Return of the Bootcut
How the 90's Bootcut Pant Trend is Making a Comeback Right Into Your Fall Wardrobe
By: Toria Carter
The early 2000’s gave us the skinny jean and we haven’t looked back since. But before the days of skin-tight denim, there were bootcut pants. The much more comfortable alternative flares slightly below knee and tapers on the thigh giving a stylish more retro look. The nostalgic trend was initially intended for sailors in the 1800’s so that their pants would go over their boots more easily.
The slimming pants usually go best with heels as the flare creates a break in the leg that subsequently accentuates the curves in ones body as opposed to lengthening the leg. This is one of the reasons why the style was typically recommended for top-heavy women wishing to balance out their silhouette. Be aware that a longer hemline may be needed if you intend to wear heels with the pants to achieve a full length appearance. Chunkier shoes and boots are also a great shoe choice.
